Traffic Tie-Ups Due To Construction Are Bad For Business

Posted: Updated:

An Ohio Valley businessman says when road construction makes it hard to get around, that directly affects people's buying patterns.

Randy Dlesk of Budget Interiors in Bridgeport says his business is in the center of a transportation hub that is usually flowing smoothly.

But he says when traffic slows to a crawl, so does business.

"Oh, we've seen a substantial drop in traffic due to the traffic on I-70 for sure," says Dlesk. "Our particular location in Bridgeport is one-point-eight miles from all four major arteries, and prior to the re-opening of I-470, all four of those major arteries were under construction, all at the same time."

Dlesk says he hopes, with the postponement of the I-470 project, that traffic will flow a little more freely.

Otherwise, he says businesses that depend on walk-in customers will suffer.
