Ohio will be the first state in the nation to use green strobe lights on snowplows.
This upcoming winter, drivers in Ohio will not only see the yellow strobe lights on snow plows but they will also see green strobe lights as well.
ODOT snowplows have been rear-ended nearly four times more often than snowplows in neighboring states.
To help bring that number down, ODOT is including green strobe lights on their snow plow trucks after studied suggested that the green strobes are more easily detected by the human eye.
Over the next several weeks, ODOT District 11 will be conducting a 150-point inspection, test and fine tune of their snow removal equipment in preparation for the upcoming winter.
