A two person panel to discuss the costs and benefits of Hydraulic Fracking was held Monday on the campus of Franciscan University.
The panel was put on by the campus' Students for a Fair Society Group.
They invited Dr Yuri Gorby, who is a scientist who studies the effects of hydraulic fracking and Father Neil Pezzula, who has been involved with communities surrounded by the industry.
The two panelists addressed the crowd with a different look at the fracking process than the Ohio Valley typically sees which was the effects the fracking process has on our environment.
Keith Michael Estrada, who founded the Students for Fair Society, said they are starting the conversation hoping that Catholics at the institution will hear the stories of the panel so they can start to inquire on their own what exactly is happening.
After the panel an open question session was held where people in the crowd were able to ask the panel questions about the process.
The Students for a Fair Society is a group dedicated to upholding the teaching of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church in its fullness.
The event was free and open to the public.
