Wheeling Central's Burch Named Athlete of the Week - WTRF 7 News Sports Weather - Wheeling Steubenville

Wheeling Central's C.J. Burch has been named the Robinson Auto Group Athlete of the Week.

The junior scored three touchdowns, and rushed for 195 yards, in the Maroon Knights 35-20 win over Taylor Allderdice last Saturday night at Wheeling Island Stadium.  The victory moved the Maroon Knights back into playoff contention, now 15th in the latest Class A rankings.

Burch, who lines up as quarterback and at running back, carried the ball 25 times. He's carrying the burden of the Maroon Knights' offense, with quarterback Parker Henry out for the season.

Burch has 159 carries this season with 12 touchdowns, and has racked up 999 yards on the ground.

The Maroon Knights, now 4-2 on the season, travel to unbeaten Shadyside(6-0) on Friday night.
