The Ohio Valley Health Services & Education Corp. (OVHS&E), parent company of Ohio Valley Medical Center (OVMC), announced Thursday it will continue its search for a strategic healthcare partner.
The announcement was made following the completion of the due diligence process with Community Health Systems.
Chairman of the OVHS&E Board of Trustees, Jerry Narcisi, says the decision is in the best interest of the organization.
"After working through the due diligence process, we have decided that it is in the best interest of our organization to continue and extend our search without completing an affiliation with Community Health Systems," he said.
Narcisi said the financial turnaround the organization experienced should assist in the process of locating a partner.
President and Chief Executive Officer of OVHS&E, Michael Caruso, stated the organization has a $5.3 million operating profit through August 2012. He says the organization will continue efforts to improve operations that will assure the organization remains a vital health resource for the area.
