
The Linsly Cadets celebrated Homecoming at Lockhart Alumni Field, and put the break on a five-game losing streak, with a 52-24 thrashing of Western Reserve Academy on Saturday afternoon.
Senior running back Chinelo Oparanozie exploded for five touchdowns--four rushing--and one receiving. He ran the ball 25 times for 283 yards, and had the one catch for nine yards. Quarterback Jirbi Blount, the son of Steelers Hall of Famer Mel Blount, hit eight of 11 passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
Rainer Whiteside booted a 41-yard field goal.
Emma Cecil was named Homecoming queen, as the Cadets head into the bye week at 2-5 on the season.
Linsly returns to action in two weeks at Gilmour Academy.
