The Cleveland Indians have hired Terry Francona as the 42nd manager in team history.
Francona, who managed the Boston Red Sox to World Series titles in 2004 and 2007, worked as an adviser in Cleveland's front office in 2001 and always said he would like the chance to rejoin the club one day.
Francona spent the past year working as a TV analyst. He was fired in Boston last season after the team collapsed down the stretch.
Francona replaces Manny Acta, who was dismissed in the last week of the season.
