A Tyler County man is behind bars this evening after his alleged involvement in a terrifying run-in with his wife and children.
According to police, around 12 a.m. Tuesday morning, Howard Shriver ignored a domestic violence order and showed up at his residence and threatened his wife and children with a maul, which is an axe like device used for splitting wood.
Shriver allegedly forced his way into the home by battering open the door of the home using the maul.
Shriver's children and wife ran into the nearby woods, hiding until police arrived on scene.
Shriver is facing several charges including attempted murder, nighttime burglary, and violation of a domestic protection order.
