Senator Jay Rockefeller announced that over $450 thousand in federal funding will help make sure state workforce development agencies can continue to help former RG Steel employees find work in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
The employees in the three states were affected by layoffs at six RG Steel facilities after the company filed for bankruptcy on March 31.
The grant covers employees from Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, and Ohio Counties in West Virginia; Belmont, Carroll, Harrison, Jefferson, Mahoning, and Monroe Counties in Ohio; and Allegheny County in Pennsylvania.
The project to help out the former employees has now received $984,248.
