Chesapeake Energy has withdrawn its application to drill near Wheeling Park High School.
A spokesman from Ohio County Schools confirmed the news Friday after being informed by the company the drilling will not take place.
Stacey Brodak, senior director of corporate development released this statement for wtrf.com.
"Chesapeake chose to withdraw the applications for the Parks System
Trust Fund site as it seeks alternative drilling locations. Any plans
for new well locations will be submitted to the West Virginia Department
of Environmental Protection for review as a permit application, and
will be subject to public comment."
