WHEELING -
A Wheeling man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in the leg.
Police say it happened shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday on the 600 block of North Main Street.
Police say they were called to the scene by a witness. When they arrived, police say they found 59-year-old Irvin L. Ruckh covered in blood, and a female victim with a bruised face and an 8-inch cut in her leg.
The witness told police they watched Ruckh punch the female in the face and then pull a knife and cut her in the leg.
Police say they found a knife on the dining room table inside the couple's apartment. They say both Ruckh and the victim lived in the apartment and were dating.
The victim was taken to OVMC, and Ruckh was transported to the Northern Regional Jail, and is facing charges of Malicious Assault.
