Marshall University will celebrate the start of construction of the $50 million Arthur Weisberg Family Applied Engineering Complex with a groundbreaking at 2 p.m. Oct. 29.
The groundbreaking will take place at 1628 Third Ave., the location where the building will be constructed.
Construction on the 145,000 square-foot, 480-foot long engineering complex is expected to take 28 months, with the facility opening in February 2015.
The building is named for Arthur Weisberg, president of Arthur's Enterprises and founder of State Electric Supply Co. Arthur's Enterprises made a large gift pledge to the Marshall University Foundation to help pay for the complex.
Speakers at the groundbreaking will include:
Marshall President Stephen J. Kopp;
Weisberg;
Sen. Robert H. Plymale, D-Wayne; and
A. Michael Perry, emeritus member of Marshall's board of governors.
