
The two-time defending, West Virginia Class A state champion Wheeling Central Maroon Knights, will not get a chance to win a third straight title after falling by a score of 60-34 at No.7 East Hardy in the opening round of the post-season.
Wheeling Central junior quarterback C.J. Burch carried the football 33 times for 249 yards and four touchdowns, and also passed for 118 yards.
The victory puts East Hardy (10-1) into the quarterfinals where they'll visit Magnolia (10-1) in New Martinsville next weekend.
The Maroon Knights finish the season with a record of 7-4.
