Family and friends gathered Sunday evening at Warwood's Garden Park to remember the life of Bob Wildpret, who died of aggressive prostate cancer, but that wasn't all they were doing.
The "Globes of Hope" tree was lit after months of planning came together.
The goal of the tree is to help spread awareness and promote education about the signs and symptoms of aggressive and non-aggressive prostrate cancer.
Bob's wife, Joan, had the honor of lighting the tree that will remain lit through the winter months.
The globes on the tree were made with help from the Wheeling Park High School Art Department. They cost $20 each and all proceeds go towards research for prostate cancer.
"The globes are about spreading hope, we hope that the globes will become the hallmark of prostate cancer." said Joan Wildpret, Bob's wife.
