ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio -

Representatives from dozens of local charitable organizations lined up Monday at the Belmont Hills Country Club, while the Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers handed out checks to each group to help them help the community.

Each year, the Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers raise money and then donate every penny to local groups.

Monday, they handed out more than $50,000.

Through several fundraisers throughout the year, like the Jeffrey Showalter Celebrity Golf Classic, the group is able to raise the money.

"They do so much for our whole community," Kathy Brown, Executive Director of Wheeling HealthRite said. "It helps us to provide healthcare and medicine to the low income uninsured."

David Stammerjohn, a member of the Daily Bread Food Pantry, also accepted a check. "It really helps us to accomplish our mission feeding hungry families in Martins Ferry," he said.

"So many have showed us what they've done,"  Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers Board President Jim Carnes said. "They've invited us to their food pantries to see the food being dispersed."

Over the past seven years, the Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers have given close to a half million dollars to local organizations.
