West Liberty's Falk Named WVIAC Player of the Week
Alex Falk, an All-American standout for the No. 1-ranked West Liberty University men's basketball team, has earned his fifth West Virginia Conference Player of the Week Award.
The 6-3 senior guard from Upper Sandusky, Ohio was honored by the WVIAC on Monday after leading the Hilltoppers to a 90-74 road victory against No. 8 Findlay in their only game last week.
Falk poured in a game-high 37 points as West Liberty led by as many as 28 points down the stretch in handing the Oilers only their fourth home loss in the last 157 games.
The Hilltopper star made 13-of-19 field goal attempts – including 3-of-4 3-pointers – and cashed in 8-of-10 free throws to collect his first Player of the Week Award of the season. Falk led all WVIAC players a year ago with four Player of the Week citations.
Wheeling Jesuit senior guard Ben Siefert shared WVIAC Player of the Week honors with Falk while Concord guard Amanda Smith was the WVIAC Women's Player of the Week.
The West Liberty men and women make their home debuts Tuesday night when they host West Virginia Wesleyan at the ASRC. The women are set to tip off at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30.
