CHARLESTON -
The West Virginia Education Association plans to support former state School's Superintendent Jorea Marple.
A candlelight vigil will be held 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in front the WVEA headquarters in Charleston.
The association says the vigil is intended to show support for Marple and "disdain" for the manner in which she was dismissed.
Marple was fired last week by the state's Board of Education, prompting two board members to resign in protest.
After Marple's firing, the school board president, Wade Linger, said members believed the state's public school system needs a new direction.
Marple said she was surprised by her dismissal.
