Wednesday is one of the busiest travel days of the year and the Ohio State Highway Patrol is providing some safety tips for a safe holiday.
"Watch your speed a little bit give yourself some additional time for the traveling part of your day watch your following distances certainly wear your safety belt," says Lieutenant Christopher Johnson.
The State Highway Patrol will be keeping troopers out on the road as much as possible and using overtime this holiday season to ensure safe travels.
Shopping areas and main travel routes such as US 22 and State Route 7 will be watched closely. Lieutenant Johnson would like you to especially be careful on Route 7 because of the construction.
Aside from this being on of the heaviest travel times, this is also known as one of the biggest drinking nights of the year.
"There's going to be officers out there on the road looking for impaired drivers," says Lieutenant Johnson.
Lieutenant Johnson suggests getting a designated driver but enforces the message do not drink and drive; an accident can change someone's life forever.
