The night before Thanksgiving, or "Thanksgiving Eve", is considered the biggest drinking night of the year by some officials.
It's a night where local police try to up their visibility in the community. They place extra patrols out on the road, in an attempt to prevent people from drinking and driving.
Lieutenant Phil Redford with the Wheeling Police Department told 7News, unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way.
"Historically, the night before Thanksgiving is one of our busiest nights. We had extra patrols out monitoring the local bars as well as people traveling on the roadway," he said. "Relatively it was a quiet evening, we had a few disorderly's that we were dispatched to, as well as multiple traffic stops which resulted in several DUI arrests."
According to Lieutenant Redford, they had three DUI arrests, which, on such a busy night, is actually a good number.
