Trucks for Maddox Charity Launched

Posted: Updated:

The family and friends of a two-year-old boy who was fatally mauled by wild African dogs have set up a Christmas charity to honor his memory.

News outlets report Thursday that organizers of the Trucks for Maddox charity hope to make it an annual event.

The parents of Maddox Derkosh originally requested the trucks instead of flowers because the boy loved to play with trucks and share them with his friends.

More than 4,000 trucks have already been donated. They'll be given to Christmas charities for needy children.

Donations are being accepted at Pittsburgh Fire Department stations, or at the William Slater II Funeral Home, 1650 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15220.

More information is available on the charity's Facebook page.
