A Steubenville Speedway received three counterfeit bills early Thursday morning

The man asked the employee if he could exchange his three 20 dollar bills for smaller bills.

After the clerk handed the money over he realized the bills were counterfeit.

The employee informed the Steubenville police department of the incident.

We're told police and detectives are investigating as best as they can.

The manager of the Speedway declined comment.
