A local business will be expanding greatly within the next year and a half.
Ergon-West Virginia Incorporated, located in Newell, West Virginia, is investing $78 million into upgrades that will allow the refinery to process new crude oils from Marcellus Shale and Utica Shale.
This expansion will not be creating new jobs. However, ancillary positions within company supporting staff for crude oil trucking, transportation and construction will grow.
"We have an outstanding group of employees here and their hard work and dedication over the 15 years that Ergon has been here has really been a significant factor in our success which has lead the company to invest in our future," says Neil Stanton, Plant Manager.
The 70-plus million dollars will enhance existing equipment and add new to in turn create additional capacity, produce higher valued products and move more efficiently out to the market place.
The expansion is expected to be completed in 2014.
