WTRF.com UPDATE: More Details Emerge in Deadly Harrison County Crash

CADIZ, Ohio -

WTRF.COM UPDATE: 

According to authorities, Rudolf G. Fichtner, 71, of 4315 Loma Alta, Corpus Christi, Texas was driving a 2007 Freightliner hauling refrigerated liquid oxygen eastbound on US 250 when the vehicle failed to make a left curve, driving off the right side of the road.

The commercial truck overturned sliding down over an embankment. Fichtner was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is still pending.

More details have emerged in after a one-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. 250 outside of Cadiz.

According to reports, the driver of a truck carrying oxygen was traveling too fast to make a turn near the Harrison County Home, and his truck left the roadway, coming to rest in a field.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene to clean up spilled diesel fuel. Stay tuned to WTRF.COM for more updates

Emergency crews are on the scene of a fatal crash on U.S. 250 outside of Cadiz, near the Harrison County Home.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Harrison County Sheriff are on the scene.  

The highway is presently closed.
