Armstrong Hardwood Flooring announced plans Dec. 6 to hire 145 workers at its Beverly plant to meet increasing demand.
The facility, located in Randolph County, currently employs 575 workers. Potential job seekers can apply online by clicking on the careers tab at www.armstrong.com or by attending one of the plant's open houses on Dec. 8, 15, Jan. 5 and 19.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin said the expansion is just one example of growth among West Virginia companies.
"We appreciate having Armstrong Hardwood Flooring in West Virginia for the past 20 years," Tomblin said in a statement. "(Its) plan to hire 145 workers is another example of the confidence companies have in our state and our work force."
Armstrong World Industries Inc. designs and manufactures floors and ceilings. In 2011, Armstrong's consolidated net sales from continuing operations totaled approximately $2.7 billion. The company is based in Lancaster, Pa., and operates 32 plants in eight countries, employing approximately 8,500 employees worldwide.
An Armstrong plant in Millwood deals mainly with mineral wool, or the raw materials for mineral fiber ceilings.
