Continuing coverage after a local football player is arrested and now facing serious charges.
WTRF.com is learning how West Liberty students are reacting after football player Vernon Dunnom was arrested on campus Friday on a fugitive from justice warrant.
West Liberty student, Jared Bailey, says the arrest comes as a shock to the university community.
"We can only say so much; he's innocent until proven guilty," he says. "If he is, its kind of scary and surreal that we had somebody like that on campus."
The serious charges he is facing come from Miami Dade Florida. Dunnom is facing first degree homicide, attempted homicide and two counts of robbery.
Tony Viola, also a West Liberty Student, says he's seen a lot of negative feedback on social media.
"There has been a lot of talk on social medias," he says. "I've seen on Facebook and Twitter a lot of negative feedback. Where really I think support should be first and foremost with these instances."
Authorities say the alleged incident happened on November 17.
