West Liberty University Football Player Vernon Dunnom walked out of the Northern Regional Jail Monday night a free man.
As soon as he was released, Dunnom came with his attorney David Jividen to the WTRF Studio where some of Dunnom's first words were '' I was just happy , just thanking God that they found out I was innocent and everything." I'm just going to keep doing what I've always been doing, just being a student athlete, '' said Dunnom.
Dunnom was smiling from ear to ear when he came to WTRF Monday night.
''I knew I was innocent the whole time and I knew I'd have to get proof'', said Dunnom.
Dunnom hugged his football coach Roger Waialae when he came to pick him up. Dunnom said he wanted to get back to the University to take his exams.
Homicide charges have been dropped against West Liberty student Vernon Dunnom.
Wheeling Attorney David Jividen picked Dunnom up after he was released around 7:30.
Dunnom was facing homicide charges in Miami, Dade Florida, but Monday those charges were dropped.
Dunnom was charged with being a fugitive from justice in West Virginia, but when new evidence was introduced over the weekend, Florida authorities Monday dropped all charges against the 24-year-old student athlete.

Mountain State Fugitive Task Force member Chad Simpson said murder charges are being dropped against Vernon Dunnom , the West Liberty football player who was charged with being a Fugitive from Justice in West Virginia.
Dunnom was facing a first degree homicide charge in Miami, Dade , an attempted murder charge and two counts of robbery from a November 17 incident .
WTRF.com received word just before 5 p.m. that charges were dropped.
A Northern Regional Jail official said they are waiting to get word from the court system before Dunnom is released . Wheeling Attorney David Jividen said a Federal Judge in Florida will sign his release papers tomorrow morning.
Jividen said the next step is for an Ohio County Circuit Court Judge to sign his release.
Authorities said Dunnom will be out of jail sometime Tuesday morning.
Dunnom was facing an extradition hearing tomorrow afternoon in Ohio County Circuit Court.

Capehart said through the school's dorm card system, they found Dunnom swiped in and out of his dorm several times when he was alleged to have been in Florida. They also found witnesses that said Dunnom was with them and ate dinner with them.
In an Exclusive interview ,West Liberty University President Robin Capehart says the university has evidence the student at the center of a murder probe was in fact on campus during the time of the alleged crime in Florida.
When Vernon Dunnom was arrested on Friday, he made the comment that he wasn't even in Florida at the time of the alleged crimes; so, West Liberty University investigated and found some compelling evidence.
Capehart told 7 News that through the school's dorm card system, they found Dunnom swiped in and out of his dorm several times when he was allegedly in Florida. They also found witnesses that said they were with Dunnom and ate dinner with him. The school also has credit card receipts that show where Dunnom had been during that weekend.
President Capehart said, "a lot of the information we have supports the idea, supports the claim that he made, that he wasn't in Florida that he was on campus during that weekend. We're cooperating with the authorities a lot of the information we had Saturday we gave to some of the detectives that came up from Miami, '' said Capehart.
Dunnom was scheduled to appear in Ohio County Circuit Court tomorrow for his extradition hearing. He was facing charges of first degree homicide, attempted homicide and two counts of robbery for an incident back on November 17 in Miami Dade, Florida.
More information is expected Monday on the extradition hearing of a WLU football player charged with murder.
Last week, the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force and the West Liberty Police Department arrested Vernon Cedric Dunnom, 24, of Miami ,Dade Florida.
Dunnom is facing charges of first degree homicide, attempted homicide, and two counts of robbery from an alleged incident that occurred on Nov 17, 2012 in Miami Dade, Fla. according to authorities.
Dunnom is expected to appear in Ohio County Circuit Court sometime this week to face his extradition to Florida.
