A local Bethany College alumnus is mourning the loss of his daughter who was one of the victims in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.
To help support the family, the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity has created a memorial scholarship fund in memory of 6-year-old Caroline Previdi.
Jeffrey W. Previdi was a graduate of Bethany College in 1994 and a member of the Psi Chapter of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
On Dec. 14, Previdi's six-year-old daughter Caroline was one of the 26 people killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Twenty children, including six staff members of the elementary school were shot and killed in the second deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.
According to the fraternity, Previdi also has a nine-year-old son who was present at the school during the shooting but made it out unharmed.
The fraternity's goal is to raise at least $100,000 to "ensure Caroline will be remembered in a positive way by providing annual scholarships to worthy students who are majoring in education."
