A convicted felon with a lifetime ban on possessing firearms was arrested in Jefferson County on Monday.
According to Steubenville Police, they responded to a traffic accident early Monday morning where they found a stolen vehicle. Officers were told two men and a woman ran from the car.
Officers identified the man as Kenneth Shepard, who had an active bench warrant out for his arrest.
A house was then surrounded and officers went into an upstairs bedroom where Shepard ran. When police unlocked a closet door, they found stolen rifles. Shepard was found in the attic of the home and was taken to the Jefferson County Jail. He was charged with the bench warrant as well as other pending charges.
After processing the evidence, police found that all of the rifles were stolen from Wetzel County.
Shepard is also charged with 23 counts of possessing weapons under disability and 23 counts of receiving stolen property.
