The Wheeling Nailers won a season-high fourth straight game with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors on Wednesday afternoon at WesBanco Arena. It completed a two-game sweep of the Road Warriors, following a 3-1 Nailers win on Tuesday night.
It was the annual field trip day, with over 1,500 area school kids in attendance for the 11 a.m. start.
Wheeling's Paul Crowder scored two goals (7), and goaltender Peter Delmas stopped 21 of 22 shots for his third win in four days, since returning to the Nailers.
Wheeling defenseman Carl Sneep started the scoring with a power-play goal (2) in the first period.
After Greenville's Francis Verreault tied the game with his seventh goal of the season, Crowder scored the next two goals.
Wheeling's Cody Wild added a power-play goal (4) in the third period to complete the scoring.
The Nailers, now 10-10 on the season, finished the game 2-for-3 with the man-advantage, the Road Warriors were 0-3. It was the Nailers eight straight game with a power-play goal.
