Wheeling Central senior Colleen McCormick has been selected as the WTRF/Robinson Auto Group Athlete of the Week.
McCormick is averaging 25 points and 14 rebounds so far this season.
The Class A First-team All-Stater scored 23 points in a upset, road-win against her cousin Mark McCromick's John Marshall Lady Monarchs last Wednesday. She came back with a game-high 27 points in a rout of Charleston Catholic on Saturday, actually scoring one more point than the entire Lady Irish squad in a 64-26 victory.
"She's just relentless to play well," said Head Coach Penn Kurtz.
McCormick and fellow senior, West Liberty University recruit Emily Bucon, are as lethal a one-two punch as any team in the Ohio Valley.
"I practice hard and it seems to spill over to games," said McCormick. "Hard work pays off and having Emily play so well, and the other girls are all playing well as a team."
The Lady Maroon Knights (7-1) are back on the floor on Friday night at 7 against Bishop Donahue in the Undo's Classic at Wheeling Jesuit University.
