The Wheeling Central boys basketball team used a second-half rally to defeat Bishop Donahue 59-53 on the first night of the Undo's Catholic Basketball Tournament at Wheeling Jesuit University.
Freshman Chase Harler led the Maroon Knights with 23 points. Wheeling Central will face Archbishop McNicholas (Cin.) in Saturday night's final at 8:30. McNicholas handed Steubenville Catholic Central its first loss of the season in the other semifinal 52-42.
On the girls side, Wheeling Central defeated Bishop Donahue 53-34, behind 22 points from senior, West Liberty recruit Emily Bucon. Senior Colleen McCormick, who was held well below her 25 points per game average, scored nine points and went over 1,000 points for her career.
The Maroon Knights will face Weirton Madonna in the Girls Championship Final on Saturday night at 7. The Blue Dons knocked off Conotton Valley, 35-31, in the other semifinal.
