West Liberty University is having a significant year of
fundraising.
"As we wrap up the second quarter of fiscal year 2013, we
don't want to miss the chance to update everyone on the status of our capital
campaign," said Jason Koegler, vice president of institutional advancement.
"We are thrilled to report that we just broke the $3 million
mark toward this year's goal making this fiscal year the greatest fundraising
year in the school's history," Koegler said.
WLU announced its capital campaign in October when President
Robin C. Capehart unveiled details and goals that support his vision for moving
WLU from a good college to a great university.
Money raised will be earmarked to fund campus improvements
including the construction of Campbell Hall of Health Sciences, the renovation
of historic Shaw Hall, the renovation of Kelly Theatre, athletic facility
upgrades and other capital improvements.
"We are so grateful to our friends, alumni and our major
donors who have joined us in this historic campaign. West Liberty University
has enjoyed an ongoing increase in enrollment, meaning the improvements that
these gifts will fund are vital for our future," said Angela Zambito-Hill,
development director.
Compared with last year, the fundraising team has brought in
more than twice the dollars raised during the entire 2011-2012 year. Besides
Koegler and Zambito-Hill, former WVU athletic director Ed Pastilong has joined
the WLU fundraising team. Additional support is provided by Director of Annual
Giving Stefanie Trouten, who coordinates the phone-a-thon.
"With six months remaining in the fiscal year, we still have
work to do," Koegler said. "We encourage anyone interested in joining our
effort to call us or visit our website to get involved. We believe that the
future of West Liberty University is important not only to our students and
alumni, but to the entire region. It is especially gratifying to see this kind of
support for our work."
