Patricia Cromwell, a local substitute teacher, quilter and
dedicated volunteer at Cabell Huntington Hospital, has received the 2012
Volunteer of the Year Award from the Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary.
Cromwell began donating her
time to Cabell Huntington Hospital in 2005 and quickly became involved in
projects and fundraising efforts. She currently serves as treasurer of the
Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary and is often seen at tables throughout the
hospital where fundraising raffle tickets and items are sold.
Her teaching career spanned several decades, and she
continues to substitute teach in Huntington schools. Since she began
volunteering, Cromwell has amassed more than 4,000 volunteer hours.
"Pat's day-to-day performance is dependable, consistent and
exceeds our customer standards," said Louise Simmons, a fellow volunteer and
Auxiliary trustee who nominated Cromwell. "She also demonstrates concern for
the welfare and happiness of all patients, visitors and staff. She definitely
has a positive effect on others."
The Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary is a group of
volunteers involved in various fundraising activities for the hospital, the
Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Hoops Family Children's Hospital.
Over the years, they have raised money for the Hoops Family Children's
Hospital, critical care ambulances, completion of the dialysis center and a
major gift toward the North Patient Tower Construction.
