River High School senior wing Brett Price has been selected as the WTRF/Robinson Auto Group Athlete of the Week.
Price scored a career-high 40 points, including a career-best eight 3-pointers, in the Pilots' 79-68 upset win over Magnolia in New Martinsville last Saturday night.
Price's effort was part of the Pilots' school-record 15 3-pointers. His eight threes made is two shy of the school-record of 10 shared by Mike Snively and Jeremy Stimpert. But Price's big night wasn't the best by a Pilot this season. Classmate Cody Caldwell made nine 3-pointers in a loss against Division II Athens a week earlier, when he scored 29 points.
According to the OHSAA website, Fort Frye High School owns the OVAC record for 3-pointers made in a game with 21 vs. Caldwell in 1988.
Price's outburst against Magnolia came one night after leading the Pilots with 16 points in a win over Shenandoah.
The Pilots (6-3) take on Bridgeport tonight in Hannibal.
