WTRF Update: Name Released in Fatal Black Ice Crash

The St. Clairsville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has released the name of the man killed in a three-car crash on State Route 148 near Armstrong Mills.

Kevin Schnegg, 38, of Barnesville, was killed after his car lost control on black ice and entered the other lane of traffic striking another vehicle.

Schnegg was pronounced dead at the scene by the Belmont County Coroner's Office.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Wheeling Hospital where he was treated and released.

The incident is still under investigation.


ORIGINAL STORY:

One person was killed late Wednesday night after a three-car accident in Belmont County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Route 9 near Armstrong Mills.

Officials on scene had to use the "jaws-of-life" to extract one person from the second car. The person extracted was taken to a local hospital with a broken leg.

The coroner was called to the scene alone with the crash construction crew.

The road was closed overnight, but has since reopened.
