A massive mud slide on the walking trail across from the weigh station on I-70 has city officials fed up.
The problem has been ongoing for years and it's only getting worse according to some officials. They say this particular slip started after Christmas, and the problem stems from the land on the top of the hill..OUT of city limits. So they say it's not their problem to fix.
Crews are working to clear the trail, so that a portion can reopen, but at this time,there's no long term fix.

WTRF is on the scene of a massive mudslide behind Wheeling Hospital.
The slide occurred on Friday afternoon and has covered a large portion of the Heritage Trail.
City officials say this slide started right after Christmas, and it's not a new problem, but one the city has been dealing with for years.
Director of Operations for the City of Wheeling, Rusty Jebbia, said it's not the cities job to fix the problem. While they are dealing with the mess, the problem starts at the land up above, which is outside of city limits on somebody else's property.
At this time, that portion of the trail is closed while crews work to clear the mud and debris. Jebbia says the more it rains, the bigger the problem gets.
