Several history-related events are scheduled this winter at West Virginia
state parks.
Lore and Tracking Weekend is set Jan. 18-20 at Twin Falls Resort State
Park in Wyoming County. This is a history and tracking event that is led
by experienced instructors. Participants will learn how to track animals and

"Life and Adventures of Sam Pringle" is planned Jan. 19 at Hawks Nest
State Park in Fayette
County.
The setting for the
story starts in 1761, at the tail end of the French and Indian War, when John
and Samuel Pringle deserted from the English army at Fort Pitt. The two
brothers made their way to a remote region of Western Virginia along what is
now the Buckhannon River where they lived in a hollow sycamore tree for three

An 18th Century Firearms and
Accoutrements Show is planned Feb. 22-24 at Prickett's Fort State Park in Marion County.
Organizers state it's a fun and
educational buying experience from some of the best craftsmen in West Virginia
and surrounding states. There will be something or the 18th century re-enactor
or the collector.
