Indian Creek Opens New Middle School

Posted: Updated:

The new Indian Creek Middle School is officially up and running. Students began classes in the new state-of-the-art facility on Wednesday, and for some it felt like the first day of school all over again.

The $17 million project took about four years to complete. Students and teachers now have the luxury of using up-to-date overhead projectors and computers.

Principal John Belt says the unanimous feeling when walking into the new building is wonderment.

"The word of the day is 'wow.' Everyone is just in wonderment when they walk into the building, especially if they're coming in the event entrance in the cafeteria and in the gym when that movable wall is open for events. They're just blown away," says Belt.

Belt wanted to make sure the facility is as safe as possible by installing 54 cameras inside and outside as well as having electronic magnetic locks on all the outside doors.

Belt also hopes that once the public sees the new facility that they'll change their No vote on their high school issue, which has been turned down twice.
