Former Upper Big Branch Superintendent Will Spend Time in Prison
A man involved in the Upper Big Branch mine explosion will spend time in prison.
Former superintendent Gary May received the maximum federal sentence for conspiracy charges.
He was sentenced to 21 months in prison and fined $20,000.
A plea hearing is set next month for former Massey Energy executive David Hughart. He's accused of two federal conspiracy charges, but his cooperation could be a sign that authorities may be gathering evidence to target officials further up the Massey hierarchy.
