The former treasurer of the Ohio County SPCA pleaded guilty Friday to embezzling money from the organization. Mary Ellison appeared before Ohio County Magistrate Charlie Murphy.
Ellison's attorney and the state reached a plea agreement, in which Ellison pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor offense of embezzlement. The felony charge against Ellison was dismissed and it was determined that she did pay restitution in full to the victim.
Ellison faces one year in prison and two years of unsupervised parole, according to authorities. In a statement to the press, Board Members of the Ohio County SPCA say they are not satisfied with the investigation or terms of the plea agreement.
