
Good news from Belmont County! Family and friends of Kelsi Weaver gathered Sunday afternoon at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookside to raise money for one special girl.
11-year-old Kelsi suffers from Cerebral Palsy, and has recently outgrown her wheelchair. Her family purchased a new one, as well as a new van, but the lift equipment is too expensive for the family to afford.
Family and friends sold soup and sandwiches, held a 50/50 raffle, and a Chinese Auction to raise the $25,000 for the new equipment. Pastor Karen Torrez says church members are a family and jumped at the chance to help Kelsi.
"She's a brilliant and bright and wonderful girl," she says. "When we heard the need that she has we just couldn't help but come together."
