New details have emerged in a major structure fire that happened overnight in Maynard.
The family living at 71-431 Hall Street, discovered their one-story wood frame home burning at 11:45 p.m. last night.
According to Barton Fire Lieutenant John Burdock, three departments; Maynard, Barton and Harrisville, fought the blaze for almost two-and-a-half hours.
Burdock says the home is badly damaged, and the family is now staying with friends. He says just as they got the call, the ice storm started, and they fought the blaze in freezing rain and ice the entire time.
The State Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate. Fire officials say they do not suspect arson, but believe it was accidental.
