    The Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter of the West Virginia Master Naturalist program, in conjunction with Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, is sponsoring a “Moth Watch” outing on Blennerhassett Island July 27. Participants will board the Island Belle sternwheeler at 7 p.m. for a river trip to the island. 
    The Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter of the West Virginia Master Naturalist program, in conjunction with Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, is sponsoring a “Moth Watch” outing on Blennerhassett Island July 27. Participants will board the Island Belle sternwheeler at 7 p.m. for a river trip to the island. 

Shepherd University's Department of Music will present Johann Strauss's comic operetta "Die Fledermaus" (The Bat) Feb. 2-3 and Feb. 8-9 in the Frank Center. Performances begin at 8 p.m. with the exception of the 3 p.m. matinee on Feb. 3.

Rob Tudor, director of vocal activities and department chair, will lead the comic operetta as stage and music director. Tudor has directed both opera and musical theater for 15 years.

"This operetta is perfect for this time of year. It is performed traditionally in the winter because it's such a bright and uplifting production," Tudor said in a release. "'Die Fledermaus' offers lively waltzes, festive dancing, grand pranks, beautiful costumes, and mistaken identities in a way that the whole family will enjoy during the interior months."

Admission and seating for "Die Fledermaus" is on a first-come, first-served basis. The box office will open one hour prior to each performance. General admission is $15; $10 for faculty, staff, Shepherd alumni, senior citizens, and students 18 and under.
