est Virginia's House of Delegates faces a momentous decision after Speaker Rick Thompson departs for Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin's Cabinet: choosing a new leader will help set the stage for 2014, when Republicans aim to wipe out the Democrats' ebbing majority.
The Republican State Leadership Committee has a new deputy political director.
Scott Will, who most recently served as campaign manager for new West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, has been named to the position. Chris Jankowski, president of RSLC, said Will's experience in campaigning will help the organization in the 2014 election.
"The addition of Scott Will to our team will bring strategic, political and campaign experience as we gear up for the New Jersey and Virginia elections, and look toward the 2014 election cycle," Jankowski said. "Will's experience running races in our states make him a perfect fit as we continue to build upon our successes in electing Republicans to the office of attorney general, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and legislator."
In addition to working on the Morrisey campaign, Will managed the campaigns of Justin Bernier in Connecticut's 5th district in 2011 and Anne Northup in Kentucky's 3rd district in 2008. He also served as director of the Iowa Senate Majority Fund and as a field director for Sen. John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign.
Will is a native of Iowa and graduated from The University of Iowa with a degree in political science and a minor in history.
