Shoplifting Incident Ends With Bizarre Twist

Two ball caps disappeared from Pac Sun in the Ohio Valley Mall on Sunday, then a bracelet and a watch from Sears. The mall's loss prevention employees chased down and scuffled with their suspect and received some bruises and scratches in the process, but he kept running.

Then Belmont County Sheriff's deputies arrived. The sheriff says Sgt. Steve Forro and Deputy Nicole Martin nabbed the suspect behind the trash enclosure at McDonald's.

The sheriff says 19-year-old Travis Gay of Shadyside was only out on bond one hour and two minutes before he had allegedly re-offended and was on his way back to jail. This time he's charged with two counts of theft and two counts of assault, because of the scuffle with mall employees.

They say his father had picked him up, posted his bond, and at his son's request, had taken him to the mall. Now he's back in jail.
