Workers at Benwood Galvanizing Plant Lose Jobs

Employees of AZZ Galvanizing in Benwood went to work Thursday only to find out there was no job to go to.

Employees called the 7Newsroom to say when they got to the Benwood plant they were told by corporate officials to get their last paycheck and go home.

Police Chief Frank Longwell said the company asked his officers to provide backup.  Longwell said anytime someone loses a job it's a terrible thing and reportedly 22 people worked there.

Joe Young, who drives for Kaplan Trucking and picks up products from AZZ, said he never saw this coming.

7News is working to find out what happened and. A phone call was made and an email was sent to company officials, but have yet to garner a response.

Workers at AZZ Galvanizing in Benwood have lost their jobs.

Employees called the 7 newsroom to say that when they got to the Benwood plant they were told by Corporate officials to get their last paycheck and go home.

Police Chief Frank Longwell said the company asked them to provide an officer at 7 this morning because they had an announcement to make.

Chief Longwell said anytime anyone loses a job it's a terrible thing and reportedly 22 people worked there.

WTRF is working to find out what happened and have placed a phone call and sent an e-mail to the company.
