HUNTINGTON (AP) — A historic theater in Huntington is getting a new roof.
The Keith-Albee Foundation has awarded a $532,300 contract to PAR Roofing of Huntington to replace the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center's roof sections.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, the House of Delegates and the Senate are each contributing $100,000 to help pay for the project. The city of Huntington, the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, and private donors also are contributing funds.
Wayne County Sen. Bob Plymale told The Herald-Dispatch the foundation still needs to raise about $75,000. He's co-president of the nonprofit group that took over the theater in 2006.
Plymale says the project is expected to be completed by mid-June.
The Keith-Albee was built in 1928 as a vaudeville theater and movie house.
