The Shadyside Lady Tigers defeated Wheeling Central 53-44 to win the OVAC Class 2A title game at Ohio University Eastern on Saturday morning.
Senior Hayley Holenka led all scorers with 21 points, and classmate Karli Bonar added 16. Wheeling Central was led by senior Colleen McCormick with 11 points, all coming in the second half.
The Class 4A championship went to No.1 seed Steubenville 45-36 over Martins Ferry. Senior Jess Kinney led all scorers with 25 points, in a losing effort. Big Red, which does not have a senior on the roster, was led by junior ace Emily Masloski with 12 points.
The Fort Frye Lady Cadets repeated as Class 3A champions with a 46-22 win over River. Senior Diedre Combs, a Fairmont State recruit, led Fort Frye with 14 points. Taylor Buchanan added 13 points. Cassidy McCullough was River's leading scorer with eight points.
Conotton Valley won the school's first OVAC title with a 50-26 victory over St.Johns in the Class A championship game. Olivia Bower scored 20 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked eight shots for the Rockets.
No.1 seed University claimed the Class 5A title with a 53-41 over No.2 Morgantown.
