First on WTRF: Kotson Spared Prison Time as Part of Plea Deal
The sexual assault case against former Wheeling police officer Matthew Kotson has officially ended after a plea deal has been made.
According to Special Prosecutor David Cross, as part of the plea deal, Kotson pleaded no contest and was found guilty on two counts of misdemeanor harassment. His sentence of one year in prison was suspended.
Kotson will be placed on probation for a period of one year and will no longer be able to work in law enforcement.
The plea agreement was signed on Tuesday, Feb. 5, by Senior Status Judge Arthur Recht of Ohio County.
Two felony counts of sexual assault against Kotson were dismissed.
