The West Virginia State Police have announced Interstate 70 heading westbound has been reopened.

UPDATE:

According to the West Virginia State Police, Interstate 70 heading westbound near mile marker 11 has been shut down till further notice.

The StormTracker7 Weather Cam is showing traffic backed up for miles and authorities are on scene.

A representative from the WVDOT told 7News tractor trailers are having difficulty navigating both Interstate 70 and Interstate 470.

Authorities have confirmed an accident on Interstate 470 in West Virginia, by Bethlehem involving three vehicles. Injuries have not been reported at this time.

A number of accidents are being reported Friday night as snow continues to fall in some areas around the Ohio Valley.

According to local authorities, a number of accidents are being reported on Interstate 70 towards the highlands. Reports indicate traffic is backed up. Another accident has been reported on Interstate 470 between Bethlehem and Wheeling involving three vehicles.

According to Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas, Belmont County is under a level one snow emergency. The Ohio.gov website classifies a level one snow emergency as:

 "Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously."
